Why Youbility?

It’s our team. My name is Steve Sconzert. My wife, Carol Hawkins, and I founded Youbility as a resource to help you build rapport and reach patient goals.

After living with a disability for 37 years, I became a certified trainer of Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), a study of communication that utilizes the language of the mind to gain rapport and get results.

Carol is an accomplished Occupational Therapist with over 15 years of experience in acute-care, rehabilitation, and home health. She is known for gaining trust and rapport with the most difficult patients and getting great results.

Utilizing our experience combined with proven NLP communication techniques, we created the Rapid Rapport Method—a course designed to help you build rapport, motivate, and achieve patient goals.

You know the challenges of a difficult or noncompliant patient. I get it. I was one of those patients. It started when my spinal cord was severed at C-5 in an auto accident.

Through the compassionate work of some amazing therapists, nurses, and many others, my noncompliance melted. Over time I achieved full functional independence. My life had meaning again!

After a lengthy career in IT, my desire to help others ignited a shift. I dove into personal growth, coaching, and public speaking. It was there I discovered Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), where I learned the rapport and communication skills that achieve lasting results.

When I met Carol and heard her stories of patient success, I realized how important rapport was to achieving goals.

So we thought, “Why not combine our skills and help other therapists?”

It was a perfect fit, and with it the Rapid Rapport Method was born. We’ve taken proven rapport skills rooted in psychology, and tailored them for you in patient care.

Carol Hawkins

I have been working as an Occupational Therapist for over 15 years and have an extensive background working with the geriatric population in stroke recovery and shoulder rehabilitation.

While working at in-patient rehabs, I learned the value of communication and teamwork to create continuity of care across all disciplines. Working in home health, I mastered connecting with patients and their families, so they welcome me into their homes.

Over the years, I have encountered numerous personalities, from fun and easy to obnoxious and abusive. I can connect with brash or angry patients who other therapists refuse to treat. I now consider it a welcomed challenge.

When I have a connection with my patients, therapy is fun, patients are motivated, goals are met, and I enjoy my job.
